Vernon Lee Jr.

Mr. Vernon Lee Jr. is Chairman of The Marathon Foundation and its Venture Capital Access Program (VCAP). As Chairman, Mr. Lee provides strategic direction and leadership for VCAP. He also oversees the promotion of The Marathon Foundation and its network of capital sources, VCAP MBEs and SMEs, and the formation of strategic partnerships.

Mr. Lee is also the founder of Brightwood Management Partners, LLC., and a trusted business and investment advisor to several middle market companies, institutional investors, entrepreneurs, and entertainment partners. His areas of expertise include strategic partnerships, business operation improvement, and business development.

Mr. Lee has also served as a Judge for the InvestMaryland Challenge, i.Invest Competition, and Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) DC. The InvestMaryland Challenge is a national seed and early-stage business competition hosted the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development in partnership with Inc. Magazine.

i.Invest is the national youth entrepreneur (ages 13-19 years old) business competition to assist the next generation of business leaders hone their business development skills and prepare for a competitive and innovative future.

NFTE (pronounced Nifty), is an international non-profit organization providing entrepreneurship training and education programs to young people from low-income urban communities.

Mr. Lee also served as Planning Committee Chairman, United States/France Private Equity and Venture Capital Summit in 2006. The Summit included a U.S. delegation representing over $500 billion in assets under management as well as event sponsors The Senate of the Republic of France, The Greater Paris Investment Agency, The French Venture Capital Association, and the U.S. Department of Commerce International Trade Administration (ITA).

Mr. Lee has also served as a business delegation member to China. A senior group of U.S. business leaders participated in the Committee of 100's Greater China business conference in Beijing. Senior level meetings included representatives from entertainment, real estate, hospitality, retail, technology, financial services, healthcare, and mobile. Institutional investment meetings also included the President of the China Investment Corporation.

Mr. Lee is a former U.S. Air Force officer who received his Bachelor of Business Administration - Management degree from Howard University. He received his Master of Arts in International Affairs from University of Dayton. He is also a Lifetime Member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
